Introduction to the Art of Co-operative Learning Presented by A/Prof Barrie Bennett
Barrie Bennett's workshops have been very well received by many WA teachers over recent years. These practical workshops aim to raise awareness about the effective use of instructional strategies. The workshops will provide you with:
- Strategies to maximise student attainment
- An understanding of the differences between group work and co-operative learning
- Strategies for applying Johnson's (et al) 5 basic elements of co-operative learning
- Strategies to create safe and inclusive classrooms
- Workshop materials (bring your thumb drives)
The SSTUWA has arranged for these workshops to be offered to student teachers for a modest fee. This is an excellent opportunity for students and highly recommended.
The next workshop will be held on 29 May. Registration details are available here. SSTUWA membership details are available here.

Congratulations to School of Education Students!
The School of Education congratulates Nadia Clark and Kristy Mccumiskey who have been presented with a year's subscription to the Primary English Teachers' Association (PETA) in recognition of their outstanding achievements in Literacy teaching.
We would also like to thank PETA for their continued support of pre service teachers in offering this membership as an award for best practice in Literacy teaching.
The selection of only two students among so many who have achieved at the highest level was not an easy one, and both Nadia and Kristy should feel justly proud of their award. Congratulations to both graduates!

ATTENTION all School of Education Students! Education Calendar can vary from the Murdoch University Calendar
The School of Education runs a yearly calendar that, at times, is different from the Murdoch University calendar.
This happens because the School of Education calendar is necessarily aligned with what happens in schools, mainly to facilitate School Experience.
All School of Education students need to be aware of the requirements of the School of Education calendar and to take account of them in planning any work or holiday commitments. Students are expected to attend scheduled School of Education classes and unit requirements according to the published calendar. Some units have required attendance and all students in those units are required to plan attendance according to the School of Education calendar.
