Lorraine Jacob

Senior Lecturer

 

Lorraine Jacob is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education specialising in primary mathematics education.

Lorraine has been a primary school teacher in various parts of WA.  Recently she has been working as a numeracy member of the Getting it Right Literacy and Numeracy Strategy with the Western Australian Department of Education and Training. This work involved providing professional learning to Numeracy Specialist teachers and supporting them in their schools around the state. Prior to this she was part of the First Steps in Mathematics research team that was based at Murdoch University under the leadership of Professor Sue Willis. Subsequently she was part of the team that wrote both the First Steps in mathematics resource and the accompanying First steps in Mathematics professional learning modules.

Lorraine completed her research Masters degree at Murdoch university under Sue Willis's supervision. Her research interests include how children develop multiplicative thinking and also how to diagnose and help underachieving primary students in mathematics.
