Kai Fai's domain is Mathematics Education. His research work and interests include classroom practices, the mathematics curriculum, the teaching and learning of mathematical problem solving and Lesson Study.

Kai Fai taught for many years at the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary levels in Singapore. His wide teaching experience includes teaching Primary levels remediation math with manipulatives, Secondary level math, High School students and teachers graphics calculators and data loggers, tertiary students engineering and computing math, and math pedagogy to both pre and in-service teachers. He also spent some years as an entrepreneur providing educational and consultancy services.

In keeping to the mantra of lifelong learning, Kai Fai takes on the role of a lecturer and acts to stay relevant in both domains of teaching and research.
