Senior Lecturer

Senior Lecturer in Educational Psychology. Judy's teaching and research focus on social and cognitive interaction for learning and development, and ways to create effective learning environments in a range of educational and community contexts. Her interests revolve around collaborative learning and teaching, motivational change, and mentoring. Drawing on sociocultural perspectives, Judy's research uses qualitative and quantitative methods to understand development at personal, interpersonal and community levels. Recent work has focused on children's social and emotional development, motivational and leadership development, teachers' instructional practices, mentoring of young people and program effectiveness, intergenerational exchange, and teacher professional development and mentoring. Judy was awarded a special commendation by the Australian Association for Research in Education (AARE) in 1998 for her doctoral thesis.
