Lecturer in Education. Formerly a teacher of English and Drama, Jane teaches mainly in the Primary BEd degree at the Rockingham campus of the university in the areas of literacy and the social contexts of schooling. Her research interests lie in critical literacy and critical pedagogy, in teaching and learning in adult and tertiary settings, and in diversity, inclusivity and social justice in education including Indigenous education. Her doctoral thesis used autobiographical narratives to explore university teachers' experiences of informal professional learning. Jane coordinates and teaches UniFocus, a bridging programme enabling students from the Rockingham and Mandurah communites, who lack formal entry qualifications, to gain entry to Murdoch University and study there successfully. In 2003 Jane was a recipient of the Vice Chancellor's Excellence in Teaching Award.
