Des is a Senior Lecturer, whose main role is promoting professional partnerships. He has 21 years of professional experience in schools, including 19 years of school-based management experience, most recently 10 years in the leadership role of principal. While working in schools, Des held key leadership responsibilities in the areas of pastoral care and curriculum. He draws on personal experiences from the state and independent sector, primary and secondary education, co-educational and single sex schools. His academic background and research interests include School Partnerships, School Leadership (Effective Schools & School Improvement), Health & Physical Education, and Law.
