Scope

Summary

SCOPE is primarily a process for educators to improve their professional practice through learning from experience.

SCOPE is a workplace learning program; it is learning through dealing with real issues in real situations.

SCOPE is a life-long learning program; that is, the materials all provide initial learning experiences in action inquiry which participants will continue to build on throughout their professional careers.

SCOPE is a collegial process in which a role of the facilitator is to ensure everyone has the same opportunities, an equal say, access to the same information, support and rewards, and the right to withdraw.

SCOPE offers starting-points rather than end-points; topics and activities are mainly there as a way of learning processes for future use and development.

SCOPE is an open and flexible program - as far as possible, each of the program booklets is 'free-standing', that is, they can be used with or without facilitation, separately or combined in different sequences, whatever best meets the needs of the participants.

SCOPE is an ongoing, self-generating process in which participants should be able to learn how to facilitate the program as they are learning how to use it, so previous participants can become facilitators in a further round.
