Professional Development for Teachers in the Studies of Asia Modules
The Studies of Asia professional development was a research project venture between Murdoch University , the Department of Education and Training, Western Australia and the Australian National Schools Network, made possible with funding from the Department of Education, Science and Training.
The project completed in 2005, and provided professional development for teachers at both primary and secondary levels through three modules:
- Teaching Asia
- English Learning Area
- Society and Environment Learning Area
Teachers from schools in the government and non-government attended three days of on-campus in-service, and participated in on-site collaboration with Murdoch researchers who assisted in the development of relevant curriculum. The project was supported by the Curriculum Framework as a framework for teaching and learning about the nations and cultures of Asia .
