Referencing
Why is it important to reference other people’s work?
Citing other people’s work is an important feature of academic writing. Making clear that you have read and understood another writer’s work strengthens your own writing.
However, not citing where you source your information is dishonest and treated as a very serious offence at university. This could even lead to a fail grade for that unit, or in extreme cases, possible suspension or expulsion from the university.
To avoid this you should be careful to cite your sources and use the appropriate referencing style suggested in your unit guides.
