What's Academic Literacy?
Studying at university requires a unique set of skills that may be different from your previous experiences. Being ‘academically literate’ simply means to be able to think critically and analytically; and to be able to express your ideas clearly in the appropriate academic style.
A greater awareness of academic literacies is the key, not only to greater achievement and success at university, but in all learning areas.
By concentrating on the four main areas of reading, note-taking, writing and referencing, you can greatly improve your level of academic literacy.
